Judge George (Harvey Keitel) attracts his youthful wife, Nathalie (Cameron Diaz)into some remote island for a vacation. But while George accompanies their sole burglar -- Nathalie's childhood friend Lance (Craig Sheffer) -- on a fishing trip, Nathalie spends time with her ex, Kent (Billy Zane). Nathalie tries to hide evidence before her husband gets home when Kent ultimately ends up dead the next morning. The events of the preceding night unravel, together with revelations, after the body is found.
