After suffering a shrapnel wound to the leg as a teenager during World War I, Ernest Hemingway (Chris O'Donnell) falls in love with Agnes von Kurowsky (Sandra Bullock), a gorgeous elder nurse at the hospital where he is transferred to heal. Their affair gradually intensifies until Hemingway brazenly proposes to Agnes that she marry him and accompany him to America. Richard Attenborough directs this drama based on the renowned novelist's real-life experiences.
