Everybody expects the worst, after Custer and the 7th Cavalry are destroyed by Indians. Capt. Nathan Brittles is ordered on patrol but he's also required to shoot along Abby Allshardhis spouse of the Fort's commanding officer, and her niece, the pretty Olivia Dandridge, who're being evacuated for their own safety. Brittles is only a few days away from retirement and Olivia has captured the eye of a couple of the younger officers inside the business, Lt. Flint Cohill and second Lt. Ross Pennell. She's taken to wearing a purple ribbon in her hair that she has a beau from the Cavalry, but neglects to state whom she's wearing it.
